The BBLOSC is happy to announce our first two sailboats to the club. While these two are not in the ultra-sleek Olympic Classes of racing boats that will eventually dominate our inventory, they are great and safe starter boats to teach the basics of sailing. One is mono-hull, and the other is multi-hull. The Tanzer 16 is a recreational sailing dinghy built predominantly of fiberglass, aluminum spars, and oiled teak wood trim. It can take four to six young sailors inside. Safety first is our Most Important priority. It uniquely has a foam flotation core sandwiched between the inner and outer hulls. In other words, unless hit by a lot of howitzer rounds, it is unsinkable. This is critical for our peace of mind, especially when the kids take it out on their own. The second boat in the fleet is the iconic Hobie 18 catamaran. Also unsinkable, this class has been instrumental in introducing multi-hulls to rated-class racing for almost 50 years...
So, with two tried and true performers, we are headed off to a great start. Starting in the spring of 2025, we will begin offering classes and lessons to the Big Bear Lake community. Stay tuned…
